A Message from the Mayor on Snow Plowing

A Message from the Mayor on February 6, 2018:

I understand there have been a lot of conversations about snow removal in Elk Grove last night, and the Village may be a victim of our normally excellent snow plowing.  But, it is obvious this morning as people drove to work and school, our roads were not up to our typical standards after a snowfall.

Last night, mother nature dealt us unusual weather conditions with snow and extremely cold temperatures which made it difficult to melt snow on less traveled roads.    Our attempt to use road salt to melt the ice was not very effective with so little overnight traffic, and this cascaded to make our snow plowing efforts less effective than usual.

Please be assured that our snow plows will continue to plow and salt our Village streets throughout the day. We apologize for any inconvenience and we appreciate your continued patience.

As we always do, we are reviewing our operations to find ways to improve our service delivery should these conditions occur again.
