Village Industrial Vacancy Rate Down To 2.64%!

Elk Grove’s industrial vacancy rate continues to fall! Colliers International recently released its 2018 second quarter industrial vacancy report for the O’Hare Industrial Market and the Village’s vacancy rate for the Business Park stood at just 2.64%, down from 2.87% last quarter. This is a new historic low!

A vacancy rate of 5% is considered essentially full, taking into account natural vacancies for businesses that are moving in and out of properties.  Elk Grove Village has now sustained a vacancy rate below 5% for over two years.

Elk Grove Village Police Urge Residents to Take Simple, Common Sense Steps to Deter Property Crime

In response to a rash of nearly 30 car burglaries and three residential home burglaries that have occurred the past week, Elk Grove Police officials are reminding residents to always keep their cars and homes locked. All of the burglarized cars were unlocked at the time of the offense and might have been prevented if residents locked their car doors.  The residential burglaries took place while the home owners were out of town.

The Police Department urges residents and visitors to take crime prevention measures such as those described in the “9 P.M. Routine” movement:

  • Bring in packages and mail
  • Remove valuables from vehicles
  • Roll up windows and lock doors
  • Close and lock garage doors
  • Close and lock exterior doors and windows
  • Turn on exterior lights

"Living in a safe community does not mean we are immune from property crimes," said Police Chief Chuck Walsh. "That's why we all need to take simple, common sense measures to keep our homes, our vehicles and our communities safe."
