Rabid Bat Found Near the 1400 Block of Circle Ct.
On September 14, 2018, a bat was found in the vicinity of the 1400 block of Circle Ct. The bat was submitted to an Illinois State Public Health Laboratory for rabies examination and was determined to be rabid.
If you were exposed to or bitten by a bat, please contact your doctor immediately. All residents should keep their dogs, cats, and ferrets on a leash when outside of their homes. If your animal does not have a current rabies vaccination, please have them inoculated with a rabies vaccine immediately.
Additionally, all individuals are advised not to handle any bats, skunks, or other wild animals. If any bats or skunks are found down or dead on your property or roadway, please call the Cook County Department of Animal Control at (708)-974-6140.
