Prescription Drug Take-Back - Saturday October 27
On Saturday, October 27, 2018 the Elk Grove Village Police Department will be participating in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back initiative. On this date the Elk Grove Village Police Department will coordinate their efforts with other law enforcement agencies across the country in an effort to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from homes.
The Take-Back initiative provides the public an opportunity to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high—more Americans currently abuse prescription drugs than the number of those using cocaine, hallucinogens, and heroin combined. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet.
On Saturday October 27, 2018 participants may dispose of their medication at the Elk Grove Village Police Department located at 901 Wellington Ave. Elk Grove Village Illinois. Collections will be accepted from 10:00 am through 2:00 pm. Liquid products, intra-venous solutions, and syringes will not be accepted. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
If you have any questions, please contact the Police Department at (847) 357-4100.
