Winter Storm Impacts

Elk Grove Village Snow & Ice Control

On Sunday, November, 25th the area experienced a large winter storm with strong winds and heavy snowfall. Village crews have been working to clear the roads since 8pm Sunday evening. There have been a number of trees that have been damaged by snow and wind. The Village’s priority is to clear the streets of snow and tree debris. In addition to Village crews, we have a contractor mobilized to assists clearing damaged trees.


No determinations has been made regarding the extended the leaf collection or conducting a branch pickup. Further updates will be posted on the Village website and Facebook page.

 


State & County Roads Snow & Ice Control

The Village does not maintain all the roadways within Village limits. Cook County has the responsibility for plowing and maintaining the following roads:

  • Arlington Heights Road (south of Higgins)
  • Devon Avenue
  • Landmeier Road
  • Meacham Road
  • Nerge Road
  • Plum Grove Road

If you experience hazardous conditions on these roads, including any type of road damage, please call the County at 847-397-4145.

The State of Illinois has the responsibility of plowing and maintaining the following roads:

  • Elmhurst Road
  • Busse Road
  • Arlington Heights Road (north of Higgins)
  • Rohlwing Road (south of Biesterfield)
  • Higgins Road (Route 72)
  • Interstate 290

If you experience hazardous conditions on these roads, including any type of road damage, please call the State at 847-705-4171 or 847-705-4162.


ComEd Power Outages Caused by Winter Storm

Due to a severe winter storm, approximately 1,385 homes and businesses throughout the Village are without power. ComEd is assessing the damage and asks residents to continue reporting outages online, with the mobile app or via phone at 800.334.7661.  Residents can check on the status of an outage using the ComEd website.

We thank you for your patience and remind everyone to stay safe in this inclement weather. If you or someone you know is without heat due to a power outage or other circumstances,the following locations are available as warming centers in the community:

The Pavilion is open from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

The Center is open Monday thru Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Protect Yourself From Storm Chaser Scams

If you are approached by a storm damage restoration company, please remember to contact your insurance company before you sign a contract. Please remember that solicitors are required to register with the Village. Suspicious individuals who cannot provide proof of solicitor registration should be reported immediately by calling 9-1-1.
