Suspect in Custody in Postal Carrier Shooting
The United States Postal Inspection Service and the Elk Grove Village Police Department announced today that a suspect was arrested and charged by criminal complaint for the shooting of a United States Postal Service (USPS) City Carrier Assistant. The arrest took place in the early hours of Wednesday, January 2, 2019 by Postal Inspectors, Elk Grove Village Police Officers, and Hanover Park Police Officers.
The USPS employee was shot the evening of Monday, December 31, 2018, while delivering mail in an unmarked vehicle leased by USPS for holiday deliveries. The victim is recovering in the hospital.
The United State Postal Inspection Service and the Elk Grove Village Police Department are jointly investigating the shooting incident.
