A new licensing year is effective on June 1st for all businesses, occupations, and activities required to be licensed under the Elk Grove Village Municipal Code. Businesses conducting retail sales of any product or merchandise require a license. All food, beverage, and cigarette vending machines as well as coin-operated amusement/musical devices must also display a valid license. Other activities requiring a business license include day care centers, food caterers, and retail establishments.
Companies are responsible for obtaining all necessary licenses. Pre-printed license applications for businesses currently licensed will be mailed in mid-April. The annual fee for a business license covers the cost of making inspections necessary to safeguard public safety, health, and welfare. Failure to obtain a license can result in fines of $25 to $500 per day.
