Public Education

The Fire Department operates a year-round Public Education Program for residents, schools, and local businesses. To obtain a free, comprehensive Home Fire Safety information packet, visit the Fire Administration Building at 901 Brantwood, the Municipal Building at 901 Wellington Avenue, or any one of our four fire stations.

Some of the more popular Public Education programs are:

Fire Safety House
Our Fire Safety House is a twenty-eight-foot mobile home featuring child-size rooms where real-life hazards including heat and smoke are simulated in a completely safe and self-contained environment. The Fire Safety House visits every elementary school within the Village each spring, and can also be seen at our Annual Open House held during Fire Prevention Week.

Annual Open House
The Elk Grove Village Fire Department's Annual Open House is held during the second week of October, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Visitors may see several safety exhibits, fire apparatus and ambulances, demonstrations from the Department's Special Teams, and can meet the firefighters and paramedics.

Industrial Emergency Operation Plan Program (EOP)
Local businesses are invited to send their employees to our EOP training program where they learn the basics of fire causes and hazards, fire inspection practices, and hands-on fire extinguisher training. These programs are offered every spring and fall for a nominal fee.
