The Engineering Division is instrumental in securing an established path for the future. The Division provides a variety of technical and professional services as well as enforcement of ordinances, codes, and regulations relating to engineering public and private improvements and storm water drainage. Inspections are made by the Division to ensure compliance with all aspects of Village codes.
Engineering permits are required for all exterior improvements. Separate building permits are required for all interior building work. Click here for information regarding building permits. Village staff is available to assist you with your permit application by answering your questions to ensure that your work is done in accordance with Village codes. Traffic Signal Outages
Public Works is responsible for coordinating the maintenance of traffic signals. If you observe a traffic signal outage, you can contact the Public Works Department during normal business hours at (847) 734-8800.
Street Light Outages
If you notice a street light that has burnt out or is not functioning, please call the Public Works Department at (847) 734-8800 with the following information:
• Location of Pole, including street address
• Type of material of the pole (wood, concrete, metal, etc.)
• Description of how the light is acting (is it blinking, completely burned out, etc.)
• The length of time the light has been malfunctioning, if known.
