Village staff is available to assist you with your permit application by answering your questions to ensure that your work is done in accordance with Village codes.
Why do you need a permit? The permit process is needed to protect both you and the Village. It protects you from improper work done by contractors. Furthermore, it can save you money by making certain that all jobs are done correctly the first time so that they do not have to be redone to meet Village codes. Please review any of the applicable pamphlets we have on-line to assist in your development.
Permits for Residents:

Residential permits are also required for:
Water service repairs and new water service installations, burying sump pump lines, grading and earthwork, stoops, stairs, new residential, additions, remodels, new or alterations to framing/plumbing/electrical/HVAC, roofs, furnaces, air conditioners, water heaters/boilers, fire damage, signs, hot tubs, fire places/fire pits, rooftop units, large ground mounted satellite dishes, crawl spaces, and windows or doors if changing the size or location. Other permits required for businesses:
Water and sewer service repairs, new water and sewer services, site work and grading, parking lot patching, sealcoating and striping, parking lot reconstructions, parking lot milling and resurfacing, new sidewalk and curb or replacements, new aprons, loading docks and driveways or replacements, roofs, new/alterations to framing/plumbing/electrical/HVAC, mezzanines, windows and doors if changing size or location, lawn sprinklers, spray booths, fire damage, stairs, water heaters/boilers, air conditioners and rooftop units, assessory structures, signs, fences, racking, low voltage, generators, cubicles (if utilizing new electric), ground mounted satellite dishes, and zoning occupancy permits.
