The Patrol Division of the Elk Grove Village Police Department is comprised of uniformed personnel assigned to the Patrol, Traffic and Canine Sections of the Department. Seventy-two (72) of the Department’s ninety-two (92) sworn personnel are assigned to this division. With few exceptions, uniformed personnel continue to be the first responders to calls for service, conducting all preliminary investigations and/or rendering immediate aid while attempting to provide solutions to situations to which they are assigned or confront.
The Patrol Division strives to maintain a strong balance between quality service through immediate response to calls and in the enforcement of laws and ordinances. Both planned and proactive approaches continue to allow the Patrol Section to accomplish both of these objectives. Maintaining peace and order throughout the Village with proper customer services pays huge dividends for the entire Division. Development of plans and approaches to deal with those identified issues is critical to building a commitment to quality community service and competent enforcement practices. Officers are reminded to recognize that the focus is on their law enforcement efforts not only in quantity of police actions but on the citizens’ “quality of life” issues that they are connected with as problem solvers. The citizens that live, work, and visit every part of Elk Grove Village are presented with officers who act appropriate and fair in all of their contacts. “Quality of life” issues remain high on the officer’s priority list when deciding how and when to patrol their assigned areas. Dealing with “quality of life” issues and being responsive to the needs of the community is a strong component of our Community Oriented Policing philosophy.
