Project Update - September 2018
The Armstrong Lane project is currently in the final stages of landscape restoration. The landscape subcontractor started the final sod restoration work on the project on Thursday, September 20. All of the final sod installation is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
The paving subcontractor, Orange Crush, completed the roadway pavement patching and all of the necessary asphalt driveway patches on Wednesday, August 15th. The project is now complete with the exception of final sodding of the disturbed parkway areas. Final sod installation is anticipated to occur in mid-September when the weather is more favorable for sod growth. Temporary erosion control blanket has been placed until then.
The concrete contractor has completed all of the curb and gutter, sidewalk and driveway apron replacements that were required as result of the water main improvement project on Armstrong Lane. Next week the asphalt subcontractor will be patching the Armstrong roadway. That work is anticipated to be performed on Tuesday, August 14 and Wednesday, August 15.
Vian Construction continues to transfer household water services to the new water main on Armstrong Lane. After that work is completed, the crew will start connecting the new water main to the existing water main. On Friday, July 27, they will connect to the existing water main at Hodlmair and James Way. On Monday, July 30, they will connect to the existing water main on Armstrong Court. On Tuesday, July 31, they will connect to the water main for the Adlai E Stevenson II School. The final connection will take place on Wednesday, August 1, connecting to the existing water main at the intersection of Armstrong Lane and Home Avenue.
The contractor is currently connecting household water services to the new 12" water main on Armstrong Lane between Cindy Lane and Home Avenue. They will continue installing water services in that area for the remainder of the week of July 16. The previously installed 8" water main on Armstrong Lane between Home Avenue and James Way is currently under chlorination testing. Once passing test results are received, the crew will be installing household water services to the new 8" main between Cindy and James. This work should occur through next week.
The week of July 9, Vian Construction completed the installation of the new water main at the intersection of Hodlmair Lane and James Way. Next week will include pressure testing and chlorination of the new water main from Home Avenue to the Hodlmair Lane/James Way intersection. The week of July 16, they will also begin transferring house water services from the old water main to the new water main on Armstrong Lane between Cindy Lane and Home Avenue.
The contractor, Vian Construction, will continue with the 12" water main installation on Armstrong Lane just west of the Home Avenue and Armstrong Lane intersection. This work will continue for the remainder of the week. The week of July 2nd, the contractor will begin installing the 8" water main on Armstrong Lane east of the Home Avenue and Armstrong intersection.
The contractor, Vian Construction continues to install the 12" water main on Armstrong Lane in the vicinity of Armstrong Court. They will continue installing the water main along Armstrong Lane, working towards Home Avenue for the remainder of the week of June18 and all of the following week.
The week of June 11th, the contractor, Vian Construction, started the installation of the water main at the intersection of Armstrong Lane and Cindy Lane. They will continue the installation heading toward Home Avenue the week of June 18th.
The Village will be replacing the existing water main along Armstrong Lane from Cindy Lane to James Way. The project includes the installation of a new 12” water main, residential service connections, pavement patching, and landscape restoration. The project is anticipated to begin construction this summer.
