Elgin O'Hare Western Access (EOWA) In 2017, the Illinois Tollway will complete construction of the new Illinois Route 390 Tollway from I-290 east to Illinois Route 83 along Thorndale Avenue, including building new bridges and frontage roads to accommodate local traffic. In addition, the I-290 Interchange and the new Wood Dale Road Interchange on Illinois Route 390, as well as the Elmhurst Road Interchange Project on I-90 are scheduled to be complete.
Reconstruction and repair work on the western segment of Illinois Route 390 was completed in 2015, and tolling on this segment from I-290 west to Lake Street (U.S. Route 20) began July 5, 2016. The eastern segment of Illinois Route 390 from I-290 east to Illinois Route 83 will open to traffic with all-electronic tolling on November 1, 2017
Illinois Route 390 Project In 2017, the Illinois Tollway is scheduled to open the new Illinois Route 390 Tollway on November 1 between I-290 and Illinois Route 83 along the current Thorndale Avenue. In addition, work to complete a new full-access Wood Dale Road Interchange is scheduled for this year, as well as construction of new ramps carrying traffic to and from frontage roads to provide full access to the Illinois Route 390 Tollway.
Construction in 2017 includes completion of the new tollway road, work on bridges and interchange ramps and frontage roads to accommodate local traffic. In addition, work will continue to complete noisewalls and retaining walls, utility relocations, signage installation and drainage improvements.
I-290 Interchange Project As part of the new Illinois Route 390 Tollway, the Illinois Tollway is completely rebuilding the I-290 Interchange.
In 2017, work to complete the I-290 Interchange at Illinois Route 390 includes the construction of the new ramp carrying Rohlwing Road traffic to eastbound Illinois Route 390, providing direct access from Rohlwing Road to Illinois Route 390 and completion of full access.

The new $26 million Wood Dale Road Interchange Project includes construction of a new bridge providing two lanes in each direction to carry Wood Dale Road traffic over the Illinois Route 390 Tollway, as well as construction of new ramps carrying traffic to and from frontage roads to provide full access to the Illinois Route 390 Tollway. The new interchange is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2017.
