The Village plants new parkway trees on an annual basis during the Spring and Fall growing seasons to ensure that our streets are lined with a healthy growing stock. A variety of species including various cultivars of Maple, Pear and Linden are used for the tree planting program. The Village plants a 4 inch caliper tree which typically have a height of 14 to 18 feet. These larger diameter trees blend into the urban forest much quicker and provide an immediate aesthetic benefit to the community.

The Contractor awarded the Village’s 2016 Private Tree Planting Program is St. Aubin Nursery of Kirkland, Illinois. Trees are planted in locations designated by the Village, and the root ball is mulched immediately upon planting.

Tree 'gator' bags will be installed on newly planted trees to provide water during establishment the first growing season to develop a healthy root system.  Public Works crews will fill these bags as needed, therefore residents and business owners are asked not to water the trees until the 'gator' bags have been removed.

PLEASE DO NOT OVER WATER THE TREE AS THIS CAN CAUSE MORE DAMAGE THAN NO WATER AT ALL.

If you have any questions please contact the Department of Public Works at (847) 734-8800 Monday – Friday 8AM to 4:30PM.
