E-Waste Drop-off Program

Starting January 1, 2012, the State of Illinois began enforcing the recycling law known as the Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act. The law bans certain electronic items, such as computers and televisions, from Illinois landfills. Elk Grove Village residents will no longer be able to place certain unwanted or unused electronics out at the curb for disposal after that date.

To assist residents of member communities the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) has developed an environmentally safe way to dispose of unwanted or unused electronic items. Four SWANCC communities will be operating ongoing old electronics drop-off programs.

Residents can find information on locations that accept electronics for recycling (some in Elk Grove Village!) using the map of electronics recycling locations available on the SWANCC websiteYou can see a preview of the map below.  Locations marked in GREEN accept televisions (fees may apply).  Locations marked with a GREEN RECYCLING SYMBOL are SWANCC drop-off locations and all accepted items are free of charge to residents of Elk Grove Village.

For further information please contact the Village Manager's Office at (847 357-4006) or SWANCC at swancc.org.
