Document Destruction

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics an estimated 16.6 million Americans were victims of identity theft in 2012. The Federal Trade Commission recommends that all personal documents be shredded before throwing them in the trash.

Electronics Recycling & Document Destruction Event
Saturday, June 3, 2017, 9am - Noon

You can also drop-off your materials at any SWANCC sponsored event. An up to date schedule for 2017 can be found here.

An electronics recycling event will also occur during this time. For a list of items that will be accepted at these events, please visit SWANCC.org.

The Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) is arranging for a document destruction company to be on site to shred paper documents for Village residents, at no cost.

A sample of the following items can be brought:
• Bank Statements
• Medical Forms
• Credit Card Applications
• Personal Files/ Records
• Retired Tax Forms
• Receipts

Staples and paper clips do not need to be removed, but binders are not allowed. Only paper waste generated by residents that live in SWANCC-member communities will be accepted. 


                                                   
Business Waste will not be accepted. 
                         Proof of residency in a SWANCC-member community will be required.
