Now Accepting Applications for the 2019 Youth Police Academy

The Elk Grove Village Police Department is offering a Youth Police Academy this summer! This program will provide an opportunity for students to learn about law enforcement and develop a partnership with the Police Department. Through this one-week academy, students will acquire knowledge through both classroom instruction and an interactive curriculum surrounding the law enforcement profession. The academy provides area youth with a unique learning opportunity to learn from their local police officers. 

When: August 5th through August 9th from 9:00am‐1:30pm

Where: Elk Grove Village Police Department, 901 Wellington Ave.

Requirements: Participants must reside or attend school in Elk Grove Village and be between the ages of 13‐17

Application Due Date: July 12th

Cost: FREE

Curriculum Summary for Academy Participants

  • Police Department Tour
  • Patrol Operations /K9 Unit demonstration
  • Traffic stops / Police Encounters
  • Response to Resistance / Decision‐making/Use of Force
  • Personal Safety / Searching
  • Internet Safety / Crime
  • Crime Scene Investigations/Evidence Collection
  • Gun Safety/Meggitt simulator

* Students will not shoot firearms, but may handle demonstration weapons. Some physical and hands‐on activity will be encouraged.
