Elk Grove Village Cares Receives Governor's Hometown Award and is Finalist for Governor's Cup
We are excited to announce that the Elk Grove Village Cares program has been awarded the 2019 Governor’s Hometown award. The Governor’s Hometown Awards program gives formal recognition to those who contributed to a program that improved their community’s quality of life. Now, Elk Grove Village is one of the four finalists that has been selected to compete for the prestigious award, “The Governor’s Cup”.
Elk Grove Village Cares embodies the spirit of the Governor’s Hometown Award—it is a program that has brought a community together to not only offer treatment to those suffering from the disease of addiction, but also to provide support to their loved ones, to offer support and a path for recovery, and to address the stigma of a disease that has turned into a national health crisis.
The Governor’s Hometown Awards program gives formal recognition to communities that contributed to their community’s quality of life via projects that had strong volunteer support, met a need, and made a definitive impact.
Elk Grove Village Cares was deemed a cup finalist going up against three other finalist, which makes it the best program in its population division. The commission will choose one of the Cup finalists as the overall winner. The winner will be announced at a reception in Springfield on November 14.
All projects honored will receive a plaque and a road sign honoring these achievements.
