Hello, this is Mayor Craig Johnson. I am pleased to share that the State of Illinois is on track to enter into Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois re-opening plan on Friday, June 26. Phase 4 will allow our community to resume many sorely missed activities, subject to restrictions, including capacity limits, face coverings and social distancing.
Beginning Friday, restaurants will be permitted to offer indoor dining. Fitness centers will be able to re-open, and youth and recreational sports will be permitted. Additionally, playgrounds will re-open, along with certain indoor recreational activities, including movie theaters and bowling allies. Phase 4 also allows for gatherings of up to fifty people. Details on Phase 4 are available at elkgrove.org/covid19.
Due to the continued limit on large gatherings, the Village has canceled the 4th of July Fireworks Display. We share your disappointment in this, and look forward to when we can resume special events in our community. But as you plan your Independence Day celebrations, please remember that it is illegal to set off fireworks in the Village, and violators may be ticketed. For your own safety and consideration of your neighbors, please do not put on your own fireworks show.
As we all enjoy this step towards a return to normalcy, please remember that your efforts to follow public health guidelines have allowed us to reach Phase 4, and your continued efforts to take necessary precautions will ensure we sustain this progress.
