Village Board Enacts Ordinance to Regulate Use of E-Bikes and E-Scooters on Streets

In Elk Grove Village, children’s safety comes first. On June 17, 2025, the Village Board adopted new regulations that went into effect July 1, 2025 regarding the use of electric and motorized bicycles and scooters in response to the increasing use of such vehicles on Village streets and sidewalks.

Ripple Fiber Internet Service Provider Coming to Elk Grove 

Ripple Fiber has begun installing fiber-optic internet infrastructure in rear yard easements throughout Elk Grove Village as part of a community-wide project. This independent utility company is not affiliated with the Village of Elk Grove.

Work will take place in most residential areas, with crews accessing rear or side yard easements. Residents will receive letters prior to construction beginning. Please notify Ripple Fiber if you have underground property (e.g., dog fences, sprinklers) by calling 800-359-5767 or visiting ripplefiber.com/construction. They’ll provide flags to mark them.

Ripple Fiber is responsible for restoring disturbed areas in a timely and professional manner. For questions, contact Ripple Fiber at 800-359-5767 or the Elk Grove Village Community Development Department at 847-357-4220.


Village Water System Meets All Water Quality Standards 

Elk Grove Village is pleased to announce that our water system continues to meet all federal and state water quality standards. The 2024 Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) confirms that water supplied from Lake Michigan is safe, with no major contaminants detected.

New “Recycle Coach” Search Tool on Village Website

Not sure if something is recyclable? You can now reference a new online recycling help tool on the Village website at elkgrove.org/recycling. Search by item or keyword to find Elk Grove Village-specific disposal instructions.

You can also download the free Recycle Coach app on your smartphone to search by keyword or photo.

SWANCC Recycling Events

Missed the Village’s Document Destruction and Electronics Recycling event? Elk Grove Village residents can still recycle electronics and shred documents at nearby municipal events. A Valid ID is required. Visit swancc.org or call 847-724-9205 for locations and additional information.

You can also schedule free curbside pickup of up to two small electronic items (under 50 lbs.) per week through Groot. Call 847-734-6400 to schedule an electronic item pickup. Learn more at elkgrove.org/recycling
