On July 1, Alexian Brothers (Ascension) Hospital in Elk Grove Village announced that it is planning to discontinue all labor and delivery services. As proposed, the hospital announced that they will discontinue the inpatient obstetrics department and consolidate these services, including deliveries, at Ascension Saint Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. The Village understands that many residents may have questions and concerns regarding the closure of labor and delivery services at the hospital. The Village is committed to fostering open communication and ensuring that our residents remain informed on matters that directly affect our community.
The Village will host a Town Hall with representatives from Ascension Alexian Brothers to allow residents the opportunity to hear directly from hospital leadership regarding the current situation and the future direction of services.
During the Town Hall, community members will have the opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and gain a clearer understanding of the hospital’s plans. Hospital representatives will be on site to provide information and listen to community feedback. Concerned residents should attend and participate in this important conversation.
The Town Hall will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at Belvedere Banquets located at 1170 W Devon Avenue, Elk Grove Village.
The State of Illinois requires a public hearing on this proposed plan, which will be held by the Illinois Department of Public Health on Tuesday, September 16 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Elk Grove Village Council Chambers. During this meeting, members of the public will be able to provide up to 2 minutes of public comment and input, however no response to public comments from either the Illinois Department of Public Health or Alexian Brothers Hospital will be made.
