Waste and Recycling Service Scheduled Rate Increase
Starting November 1, 2025, monthly waste and recycling service fees will increase slightly as part of the Village’s contract with Groot. Single-family home rates will rise from $21.69 to $22.31, and townhome rates will increase from $17.60 to $18.10.
This scheduled adjustment occurs every two years to account for inflation and service costs. Rates for landscape waste stickers, special pickups, and extra carts will remain unchanged through the end of the current contract, which runs through October 31, 2029.
Upcoming Bike & Pedestrian Network Improvements
Elk Grove Village is moving forward with several projects to expand and improve its bike and pedestrian infrastructure. Some of these projects include a new pedestrian bridge over Arlington Heights Road, which will connect to the Busse Woods trail system.
Another project beginning this year and continuing through 2026 is the construction of an 8-foot-wide path on the east side of Meacham Road, stretching from Vermont Drive in Elk Grove to Greco Lane in Schaumburg.
In 2027, an 8-foot-wide multi-use path will be installed along Arlington Heights Road. In 2027 and 2028, Biesterfield Road, Tonne Road, and Elmhurst Road will have multi-use paths added. Finally, a bike path will be installed along the west side of Busse Road from Oakton Street to Mark Street.
