Below is additional information about the activities listed on the EGV Summer Bucket List as published in the May 2024 Villager.

Take a selfie at the Heart Swing – Located at the Village Green.

Check out Art & Culture in the Park – Sunday, June 9 from 12–4 p.m. at the Village Green. This event includes Cultural Dance and Musical performances and over a dozen local artisans. Additional “Art @ the Park” craft events occur on Wednesdays at parks in the community. Check the Park District's event calendar for more information.

Rock out at the Mid-Summer Concerts – Held throughout the month of July (4, 9, 18, 23, 30). Visit the Mid-Summer Classics Concert Series page for more.

Spot a butterfly at the Monarch Garden – Located at the Village Green. Click here for more information.

Watch a Firework Show – Two firework shows are scheduled this year: one on July 4 following The Beach Boys concert at Rotary Green and a second on July 20 at 9 p.m. at Rotary Green. Click here for more information.

Spend the day at Play, Picnic & Party – Sunday, July 14 from 12–4 p.m. at the Village Green. Enjoy free activities for the whole family! Activities include live music, arts & crafts, petting zoo, and Touch-A-Truck, among others. Lunch offered at affordable prices. More information here.

Enjoy the night at Rotary Fest – Wednesday, July 17 – Sunday, July 20 at Rotary Green. Features carnival rides, live music, and various food/drinks. (Extra cost for rides/food/drinks.) Wednesday and Sunday only feature carnival rides. A full schedule with more information is available at elkgroverotaryfest.com.

View the Drone Show – Thursday, July 17 following the Neon Trees concert at Rotary Green.

See a Movie in the Park at the Pavilion – Every other Friday in June and July at 8 p.m. in the grassy area next to the Pavilion: June 14 (Migration), June 28 (Elemental), July 12 (Wonka), July 26 (Trolls: Band Together).

Spot the Library’s traveling Book Bike – Meet up with the Book Bike at local parks for free books, pop-up story times, and more! Stay updated on the bike’s path by following the Library's Youth Services Department on Facebook or contact clewis@egvpl.org to be added to the Book Bike email list.

Cool off at the Village’s Splash Pad – Located at the Village Green. Open daily from 10 a.m. to midnight, weather permitting.

Join a Summer Reading Program at the Library – The Library has multiple reading programs for all ages. Summer reading programs begin in June. Sign up in-person at the Library or online. 

Visit the Veterans’ Memorial Park – Located at the northeast corner of Biesterfield Road & Wellington Avenue.

Create at the Library’s Elk Lab Makerspace – Tap into your full creative potential at the Library using their variety of available equipment such as 3D printers. Hours vary. Visit the Library's website for more information.

Browse the Elk Grove Farmers Market – Located at the Village Green. Open Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. beginning June 1.
