Celebrate Elk Grove Village’s 70th Anniversary with a Scavenger Hunt!

Join the Village for a fun, community-wide scavenger hunt. Visit 20 locations spread around town by following clues and collecting a code word at each stop.

How to participate:

Solve the clues below to find each location. At each location there will be a sign with information on the location and a code word for you to copy down at the corresponding number on the one-page entry sheet available here.

Starting June 1, you can pick up a paper “passport” with clues at the front counter of Village Hall (901 Wellington Ave).

Turn in completed entries (passport or entry sheet) to the Finance or Community Development counter at Village Hall during business hours (8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m.).

Bring proof of residency (e.g., photo ID or recent mail).

If you would prefer to keep track of the codes on your own, there will be entry sheets available at Village Hall to write in the codes for submission.

Important Dates:

Hunt runs: June 1 – July 31, 2026

Turn in completed entries to Village Hall by 5:00 p.m. on July 31, 2026
Completed entries must be submitted to Village Hall during business hours (8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m.) with proof of residency (e.g., photo ID or recent mail).

Prizes:

All Village residents who complete the hunt and submit their entry prior to the deadline will receive a small prize.

Village residents who submit entries with all correctly completed codes will also be entered into a raffle to win a custom building block Elk Grove Village Clocktower set made with genuine LEGO® bricks.

30 winners will be selected (one winner per household, subject to eligibility rules below)

Eligibility:

Must be an Elk Grove Village resident.

Proof of residency is required when submitting your entry (e.g., photo ID or recent mail showing your name and current Elk Grove Village address).

Accepted forms of proof of residency:

Examples include a driver’s license, state ID, utility bill, or recent mail showing a current Elk Grove Village address.

For children without ID, a parent or guardian ID is acceptable.
Submissions from Village elected officials, Village employees, and members of their household are ineligible for the raffle prize.

Submission must include all 20 code words. Code words are not case-sensitive, but entries must be legible and correct.

FAQ

Getting Started Questions

Q: Who can participate?

A: Anyone may participate for fun, but only Elk Grove Village residents are eligible for prizes and raffle entry.

Q: Where do I get the passport?

A: Passports will be available for pick up at Village Hall (901 Wellington Avenue) during business hours beginning June 1, 2026. A one-page printable entry sheet is also available at elkgrove.org/70 or in the June Newsletter. The clues are posted online at elkgrove.org/70.

Q: Do I need to register before starting?

A: No registration is required. Participants can begin anytime between June 1 and July 31, 2026.

General Participation Questions

Q: Do I have to visit all 20 locations?

A: Yes, to qualify for prizes and raffle entry, all 20 codes must be recorded correctly.

Q: Can I keep track of codes on my own?

A: Yes, you can keep track of codes on your own, but upon submission, participants must copy down the codes onto an official passport or entry sheet, which will be available at Village Hall.

Q: Can I complete the hunt over multiple days?

A: Yes. Participants may complete the scavenger hunt at their own pace during the event period.

Q: Are the locations indoors or outdoors?

A: All location signs with codes are outside. There will be no need to go into any buildings. Signs are located in publicly accessible outdoor areas and may be visited at any time.

Q: Do I need a car to complete the hunt?

A: Most locations are safely accessible by walking or bicycling, but some will be more comfortable to get to by vehicle. Please note that locations are spread throughout the Village, and so driving may also be helpful to get to further locations.

Q: What do I do if I cannot find a sign?

A: Double-check the clue and location area. Signs are not hidden, however, if a location is larger, it may require a little searching. If you believe you are in the correct location and the sign still cannot be located, contact the Village Manager’s Office at 847-357-4010.

Q: What if a sign is missing or damaged at a location?

A: Please report the issue to Village staff at 847-357-4010.

Submission Questions

Q: Where do I submit my completed passport?

A: Completed entries must be turned in to Village Hall during normal business hours (Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.). Entries can be submitted on the first floor to the Finance counter or Community Development counter.

Q: Can multiple people in the same household submit entries?

A: Yes, multiple people per household can submit entries and receive small prizes, but only one entry per household will be entered into the raffle for the grand prize.

Q: What if I want to keep my passport?

A: Participants can keep their passport, but to enter the raffle, they will need to copy their codes onto a passport or entry sheet at Village Hall.

Q: How do I submit if I kept track of my codes on my phone?

A: Participants can keep track of codes however they choose, but codes must be transferred onto an official one-page passport before submission. Entry sheets are available to print at elkgrove.org/70, and will also be available at Village Hall for pickup.

Q: Are code words case sensitive?

A: No, code words are not case sensitive, but entries must be legible and correct.

Q: What is the submission deadline?

A: Entries must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on July 31, 2026.

Q: What proof of residency is accepted?

A: A driver’s license, state ID, utility bill, lease agreement, or recent mail showing your name and current Elk Grove Village address. For children without ID, a parent or guardian’s ID is acceptable.

Q: Am I able to submit entries on behalf of other people?

A: It is allowed to submit entries on behalf of other people, but proof of residency is still required for that person and there is only one entry per completed passport.

Q: What prize do participants receive?

A: All eligible residents who accurately complete the hunt will receive a small participation prize and be entered into a raffle.

Q: What is the raffle prize?

A: A building block Elk Grove Village Clocktower set made with genuine LEGO® bricks.

Q: How many raffle winners will there be?

A: 30 winners will be selected with a limit of one winner per household, subject to eligibility rules listed at elkgrove.org/70.

Q: When will winners be notified?

A: Winners will be contacted by mail after the raffle drawing in August 2026.
