Most suburban wildlife is wary of humans and will avoid people whenever possible. If you notice aggressive behavior towards you by any wild animal, please call 911.

The following information will minimize conflicts with the most common suburban wildlife:

• Never feed wild animals. Feeding of wildlife is prohibited by Village Code, and may cause animals to become aggressive towards people.
• Dispose of garbage in covered refuse cans.
• Don't leave pets or food outside.
• Secure entry points: Chimneys, the attic, crawl space vents, decks, patios.

Due to our proximity to Busse Woods Forest Preserve, the Village receives reports of increased coyote activity in populated areas. While most sightings aren't cause for concern, our priority is the safety of residents and pets.

To address coyote concerns, the Village has partnered with Scientific Wildlife Management.  Submit reports of unusual coyote behavior on their website, and they will examine the situation.

ABC Humane Wildlife Control and Prevention offers services to Elk Grove Village residents for trapping and removing animals like raccoons, skunks, squirrels, and more. The Village does not provide animal control services involving wild animals on private property unless the animal is sick, injured, or is an immediate danger to the public. The Police Department responds to complaints regarding animal abuse situations.
