HOME MenuKnox Box
The Knox Box Program is a rapid access system that allows fire and EMS personnel to quickly enter a residential, commercial, or industrial property in the event of an emergency. Knox Boxes are secure key safes that can only be accessed by first responders. Each participating community is provided with a safe key design that is unique to that particular community.
Buildings Requiring a Knox Box
The Elk Grove Village Fire Department requires that a Knox Box be installed on all buildings having an automatic fire alarm or fire suppression system that is supervised by a listed supervising agency and/or in buildings that contain a passenger elevator. The box should be located at the front entrance and be installed 5 feet from finished ground.
To place an order for a Knox Box, visit http://knoxbox.com/ and search for "Elk Grove Fire" to see the authorized options. The key safe will be shipped directly to your office or home. When you are ready for us to place the key(s) inside, call the Inspectional Services Division at (847) 734-8020 to make an appointment.
