Overnight Parking Restriction

In Elk Grove Village, parking is prohibited on all Village streets between the hours of 2:00 am and 5:00 am.

This overnight parking restriction is common among suburban municipalities for the following reasons:

  • Prevent the storage/abandonment of vehicles on public streets
  • Assist the Police Department in overnight street patrols
  • Allow for safe and effective snow plowing and street cleaning

If you have a temporary need to park your vehicle on the street overnight, you can request up to five (5) permissions monthly by:

Penalty

Any person violating the overnight parking restriction will be subject to a fine, which is determined by the number of violations within a 12-month period. The fines are structured as follows:

▪ 0 to 5 violations: $50 each
▪ 6 to 9 violations: $100 each
▪ 10 to 14 violations: $250 each
▪ 15 to 19 violations: $500 each
▪ 20 or more violations: $750 each

Village Parks

There are over 40 public parks and recreation areas in Elk Grove Village. It is important to know that parking restrictions around these parks prohibit vehicles from parking on the side of the street adjacent to the park. The reason for such a limitation is to improve visibility around the park and protect guests from oncoming traffic. Before you park your vehicle near a park, check the area for signs indicating that parking is restricted. Violations for disobeying the parking restriction are strictly dealt with by the Police Department.

In addition, sometimes parents become very involved in the sports activity of their child, leaving other children unattended. With all the activity occurring at our parks, please keep an eye on your children for their safety and your peace of mind.
