The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of village-owned property, infrastructure, and equipment. The department maintains water and sewer utilities, public streets and right of ways, urban forestry and land, and critical infrastructure. Also, the department is responsible for engineering the design of public improvements. These services are provided to the public under the four divisions of the department:
The Utilities Division is responsible for providing water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater management through services such as system maintenance, infrastructure improvement, and by quality testing.
General Operations Division
The General Operations Division is responsible for comprehensive maintenance program for public streets and right of ways including services such as snow and ice control, land and forestry management, leaf collection, street sweeping, and more.
Building and Fleet Services Division
The Building and Fleet Services Division is responsible for the maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to all Village vehicles and facilities.
The Engineering Division is responsible for the design of public improvements to achieve the capital needs of the Village of Elk Grove.
