Project Description

The Brummel Avenue Water Main project is slated to begin in the summer of 2025. The work includes installation of approximately 2,400 feet of 12- water main and water service connections along Brummel Avenue from Lively Boulevard to IL Rte. 83/Busse Road.   

Project Updates:

September 19, 2025: This week, the contractor placed the asphalt binder course and adjusted the water valve vault lids in the water main trench. Next week, the asphalt surface layer will be placed on the asphalt patch.

August 8, 2025: This week, the contractor restored the concrete curb, sidewalk, and aprons. Next week, work will continue with preparation for the asphalt patching the road and driveways.

August 1, 2025: This week, the contractor completed transferring water services to the buildings over to the new water main and disconnected the old water main. Next week, concrete restoration of curbs, sidewalk, and aprons will occur.

July 25, 2025: This week, the contractor continued transferring water services to the buildings over to the new water main, on both sides of the creek. Next week, water services transfers will be complete and the existing water main will be disconnected from both Lively Boulevard and Busse Road.

July 18, 2025:  This week, the contractor began transferring water services to the buildings over to the new water main, west of the creek. Simultaneously, the new water main, east of the creek was undergoing the chlorination process. Next week, water services transfers will continue along the entirety of the project. 

July 3, 2025: This week, the contractor continued with the water main replacement, connecting to the existing water main at Busse Rd. and Brummel Ave. and installing water main up to the culvert at 1425 Brummel Ave. It is anticipated to perform the testing and disinfection over the next 2 weeks prior to the installation of services starting. 

June 27, 2025: This week, the contractor kicked off the project by connecting to the existing water main at Lively Boulevard and Brummel and installing water main up to the culvert at 1411 Brummel. Work will continue next week with the connection at Busse Road and working their way west toward the culvert from the east side.
