Project Description

As part of this project, the concrete section of Pratt Boulevard between Busse Road and Elmhurst Road will be completely removed and replaced with full-depth asphalt pavement.

In addition to the roadway reconstruction, we will replace the 12-inch water main and services along the Pratt Boulevard corridor. The project also includes installation of new underground drainage systems, construction of a shared-use path on the south side of Pratt Boulevard, new curb & gutter, driveway aprons, and new roadway lighting to illuminate the corridor.  

Project Updates

July 10, 2026: This week, the contractor filled and flushed half of the installed mainline water main. Next week, the contractor is anticipated to pressure test and chlorinate half of the new water main, and fill & flush the remaining half of the mainline water main.

July 2, 2026: This week, water main installation was completed and the fire hydrants were installed. Next week, the contractor will fill and flush the main line, pressure test and chlorinate the new water main.

June 26, 2026: This week, water main installation main line installation neared its completion as the crew installed water main to the east limits near Elmhurst Road. Next week, the contractor will focus on installing the fire hydrants and extend the water service lines up to the connection points.

June 19, 2026: This week, water main installation continued along the south side of Pratt Boulevard heading east past Nicholas Boulevard. Next week, the water main will continue to be installed heading east.

June 5, 2026: This week, the steel casing pipe for the water main was bored under culvert at the west end of the project. Water main installation also began at the west end. Next week, the water main win continue to be installed heading east.

May 29, 2026: This week, the pavement on the southside of Pratt was continued to be removed. The steel casing for the water main under the railroad tracks was also bored into place. Next week, the casing pipe under the creek culvert will be installed and water main installation will begin on the west end.

May 22, 2026:  This week, the pavement on the southside of Pratt was saw cut and removed. Next week, casing pipe will be installed underneath the railroad tracks and the culvert in preparation of the water main installation

May 15, 2026: This week, traffic control was implemented to detour Pratt Boulevard one-way, westbound from Elmhurst Road to Busse road as work began on the Pratt Boulevard Reconstruction project. Next week, the project will kick into high gear with water main installation. 

April 24, 2026: Next week, work will begin on the Pratt Boulevard water main installation. Traffic on Pratt is also expected to be staged as one-way traffic westbound from Elmhurst to Busse utilizing the north half of the street.

April 17, 2026: This week, Acqua contractors mobilized to begin work on the Pratt Boulevard Water Main and Roadway Reconstruction project. This project will replace the water main and concrete section of road on Pratt between Busse Road and Elmhurst Road. A new multi-use path, sidewalk, curbs, aprons, lighting, and landscaping will be incorporated to update this corridor.
