 Project Description

In the effort to be proactive and extend the Village’s investment into our roadway infrastructure, the Village will be applying a preservative seal (Reclamite) to streets that were resurfaced during last year’s Street Resurfacing Program (a full lust of streets is available on the Village’s website). The preservative sealant helps to reduce pavement deterioration, which usually begins due to a combination of traffic loads and the effects of moisture penetrating the pavement. As a pavement ages and additional cracking develops, more moisture can enter the pavement and accelerate the rate of deterioration. Reclamite is an emulsion of specific petroleum oils and resins designed to restore the asphalt’s original flexibility properties. It helps to seal out moisture from penetrating the pavement.

  • Project Impacts: Prior to commencement of construction activities notices will be delivered to residences to give advanced warning. Impacts to residents will be reduced minor temporary rolling lane closures as the contractor applies a rejuvenation agent to the roadway surface. Street parking will be restricted for a couple days surrounding the application. Sand will be applied to the roadway immediately following the contractors application to create a drive-able surface. The sand will be swept up a day or two after the application.

Construction Updates

06/19/20: This week, Corrective Asphalt Materials (CAM) worked to apply an asphalt rejuvenator, known as Reclamite, to 28 residential streets. Reclamite is a product designed to extend the life of the pavement by sealing the pavement from the elements. The city’s preventative maintenance effort will minimize the need for more costly and disruptive methods of street repair. Limestone screenings were placed across the roadway following the application to create a drivable surface. The contractor returned on Tuesday and Thursday to sweep up the streets and remove the limestone screenings.

06/12/20: Next week, Corrective Asphalt Materials (CAM) will be working to apply an asphalt rejuvenator to 28 residential streets. Driveway entrances will be temporarily closed as the rolling application progresses past individual residences. Limestone screenings (similar to sand) will be placed across the roadway to create a drivable surface approximately 20 to 30 minutes following the Reclamite application. The contractor will return within 1 to 2 days following the application in order to sweep up the streets and remove the previously applied limestone screenings. Construction notices were delivered this week to all residences along the streets scheduled for improvement.

06/05/20: On Saturday, June 6, Corrective Asphalt Materials (CAM) will be working in the Business Park to apply an asphalt rejuvenator to four streets: Arthur Avenue, Lively Boulevard, Pratt Boulevard, and Crossen Avenue. Some drive entrances will be temporarily closed as the rolling application progresses past individual businesses and residences.

Limestone screenings (similar to sand) will be placed across the roadway to create a drivable surface approximately 30 minutes following the Reclamite application. The contractor will return within 1-2 days following the application to sweep up the streets and remove the previously applied limestone screenings. Construction notices have been delivered to all impacted businesses this Wednesday to give prior notice to not park on the street.
