Project Description
The Illinois Tollway is reconstructing the portion of York Road within the new I-490/IL 390 Interchange area in collaboration with the DuPage County Division of Transportation and will include construction of a multi-use path along the west side of York Road, as well as drainage improvements including replacement of storm sewers and curb and gutter. Roadway reconstruction work is scheduled to be complete over multiple construction seasons as the Tollway works to complete construction of the new I-490/IL 390 Interchange. Reconstruction will take place on York Road between Supreme Drive and Devon Avenue in 2024 and will include minor structural improvements of the land bridge near Willow Creek. Reconstruction of York Road between Gateway Road and Foster Avenue is scheduled to be complete in in 2025. Reconstruction of York Road between Foster Avenue and Supreme Drive is scheduled to be complete in 2026.

Project Updates
July 25, 2025: The Illinois Tollway is reconstructing the portion of York Road within the new I-490/IL 390 Interchange area in collaboration with the DuPage County Division of Transportation. Work within Village limits is substantially complete, with all lanes open to traffic. Construction and lane closures are ongoing on York Road in Bensenville.
March 21, 2025: The Illinois Tollway is reconstructing the portion of York Road within the new I-490/IL 390 Interchange area in collaboration with the DuPage County Division of Transportation. In 2024, the west half of York Road was reconstructed from Devon Avenue to the south Village limit. Next week, the contractor anticipates mobilizing to complete the east half of the roadway reconstruction. Traffic control and lane closures are expected, with traffic reduced to one lane in each direction. Work within Village limits is anticipated to last upwards of two months, before construction shifts south to continue reconstruction of York Road.
September 6, 2024: The Illinois Tollway is reconstructing the portion of York Road within the new I-490/IL 390 Interchange area in collaboration with the DuPage County Division of Transportation over the next 3 years. The 2024 portion will begin next week with temporary signals being installed and the traffic being staged to reduce lanes during construction.
