CONSTRUCTION NOTICE – PRIME COAT & SURFACE PAVING

The following notice was handed out to residents on Thursday, September 19.

Dear Resident:

Final roadway paving is scheduled for Friday September 19.  Early on Friday morning (weather permitting) asphalt prime coat (“Fresh Oil”) will be placed on University Lane.  This asphalt prime coat is sprayed to prepare the existing asphalt to adhere to the new surface.  “Fresh Oil” signs will be displayed warning drivers of the prime coat.  Vehicles needing to drive on University Lane in the early morning should drive slow to reduce tracking on your vehicle.  If you are returning home early on Friday (before 8am), please be aware that the freshly sprayed material can track on your tires, and subsequently into your driveway.  You should consider parking on an adjacent street until the material has dried.

During paving the roadway will remain open to two-way traffic, however short delays should be expected.   Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic around paving operations.  Access to your driveway will always remain open, except for the short duration the paver and rollers are passing near your driveway.  Once paving is complete past your house, you will have full access to your driveway.

If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact the Public Works Department at 847-734-8800.  Construction information may be viewed at elkgrove.org.
