The Village’s Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony is held the day after Thanksgiving. It is a wonderful time for our community to come together and celebrate the upcoming holiday season.
The highlight of the event is the beautiful holiday tree, which is donated by our residents and displayed on the Village Green. As special thanks, tree donating residents are invited to be our special guests at the ceremony. The tree is decorated with over 10,000 lights and there are 200,000 lights and ground displays decorating the Village Municipal Center.
The Holiday Tree Donation Program allows residents to place mature evergreen trees located in the front yard of their property onto a waiting list for use in the holiday ceremony. If your tree is selected, you will be contacted by the Public Works Department. Public Works crews will cut the tree down and transport it to the Village Green prior to the ceremony. The tree cutting is professionally done and frequently watched in amazement by property owners and neighbors. The tree stump is ground down and the site is restored with sod, all at no cost to the homeowner.
If you are interested in the Holiday Tree Donation Program please contact the Department of Public Works at 847-734-8800. A staff member will be glad to discuss this program with you and answer any questions which you may have.
This is an excellent opportunity for our residents to be a part of this wonderful community event and have a troublesome tree removed at no cost. Thank you for taking the time to consider participation this program.
